Art sculpture hippo, after the original by Francoise Pompon (1855 - 1933). Pompon, who began as a student of Rhodin, turned away from sculpting human forms beginning in 1905 and focused on the detailless basic forms of animals. His sculptures are characterized by an intuitive clarity, round forms, rejection of geometric shapes and a preference for traditional materials.
